You Were Designed

When your mom was pregnant, she had an ultrasound. This machine gives doctors a picture of you so they can make sure you are healthy. Every parent is thrilled to see you for the first time, to watch your heartbeat or see if you suck your thumb already. Your parents may have used the ultrasound to find out if you were a boy or a girl.

God didn’t need an ultrasound to see you. Even before you were born, he kept an eye on you. Psalm 139:13-15 says, You alone created my inner being. You knitted me together inside my mother. I will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made. Your works are miraculous, and my soul is fully aware of this. My bones were not hidden from you when I was being made in secret, when I was being skillfully woven in an underground workshop.”

While you were growing inside your mom, God was actually the one knitting you together. He saw every detail. He watched your bones being made. He planned for your hair color, your knees, your eyes, your toes, your laugh, your walk. He wanted to bless the world with you—exactly who you are.

Thank God that you have been amazingly made. You are miraculous.

Don’t you feel special?

Chomp on this!

How can we remember that we are miraculously made?

How we can avoid the temptation to be like a movie star who starves to be skinny?

How do we work hard to be our best, but not idolize a baseball player or cyclist who took drugs to be bigger, faster, stronger?
