You Win!

Almost everybody knows the sign for “Loser.” You make the letter L with your left thumb and index finger and then stick the back of your hand against your forehead.

Satan is constantly hissing at you, “Loser! Loser! Loser!”

You miss a basket. Loser!

You failed the science test. Loser!

You don’t dress like all the other kids. Loser!

Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!

You are a winner! “Everyone who has been born from God has won the victory over the world. Our faith is what wins the victory over the world. Who wins the victory over the world? Isn’t it the person who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:4,5).

When Jesus defeated death, you were declared—once and for all—a winner. You get to take Jesus’ victory and make it your own.

Whenever you hear someone hissing, “Loser!” remember that Jesus has shouted, “Winner!”

Listen to what John has to say: “I’ve written to you, young people, because you are strong and God’s word lives in you. You have won the victory over the evil one” (1 John 2:14).

Winner! Winner! Winner!

Dear Jesus, thank you for making me a winner because of what you did for me. This world is temporary, and your victory lasts forever. When Satan tries to tell me that I’m a loser, remind me that you make me strong and that your Father’s Word lives in me. I win. Satan loses. Thank you! Amen.
