You're So Spoiled

About now there might not be any more room around your Christmas tree because it is overflowing with all the gifts. The huge box from your parents might have a tiny envelope with plane tickets to see your best friends. Your grandparents are generous because they love to see your face light up. Your cousins love to pick out something they know you really want. However, as you open up gift after gift, it gets a little embarrassing because there are so many. You start to feel spoiled.

As God’s child, when people look at you, they see there is no more room around you either because you are overflowing with God’s gifts. Psalm 31:19 says, “How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who fear you, that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in you” (NIV).

Because Jesus bought you back from the devil and hell, you are now in God’s family. The God who created and owns everything in this world loves to be generous with you. It makes him happy to surprise you with good things. He loves to see your face light up when you realize just how much he treasures you. He picks out exactly which physical and spiritual blessings in your life will help you bless others.

Dear God, sometimes I feel so spoiled when I realize all the good things you have put in my life. My home, clothes, food, toys, and books are far more than I need. You also spoil me with spiritual gifts that are even better. You give more love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, self-control, and faithfulness. Amen.
