And haunts me with each hearing of His softly spoken words
My conscience, a reminder of forgiveness that I need
Who is this King of Glory who offers it to me
Who is this King of angels, O blessed Prince of Peace
Revealing things of Heaven and all its mysteries
My spirit’s ever longing for His grace in which to stand
Who's this King of Glory, Son of God and son of man
His name is Jesus, precious Jesus
The Lord Almighty, the King of my heart
The King of Glory
Who is this King of Glory with strength and majesty
And wisdom beyond measure, the gracious King of kings
the Lord of Earth and Heaven, the Creator of all things
Who is this King of Glory, He's everything to me
The Lord of Earth and Heaven, the Creator of all things
He is the King of Glory, He's everything to me
We’ll be looking at Psalm 24 to help us:
Psa. 24:1 The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;
Psa. 24:2 for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.
Psa. 24:3 Who may ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place?
Psa. 24:4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false.
Psa. 24:5 He will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God his Saviour.
Psa. 24:6 Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob. Selah
Psa. 24:7 Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.
Psa. 24:8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.
Psa. 24:9 Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.
Psa. 24:10 Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty — he is the King of glory. Selah
Who is this King of Glory? The song asks, but it also answers the question too!
“His name is Jesus, precious Jesus
The Lord Almighty, the King of my heart
The King of Glory”
Psalm 24 gives us even more answers to the question.
1. He’s the Creator King (v.1-2) who rules over the earth. He rules over everything because he made it in the first place! It is the King of Glory who literally ‘established’ the world. Further reading- Genesis 1.
The Lord of Earth and Heaven, the Creator of all things
He is the King of Glory, He's everything to me
2. He’s a Holy God (v.3-6) In order to meet with him “in His holy place” we must be pure inside and out. “Clean hands and a pure heart” are required of us. If we feel anything but clean and pure then if we truly ask for forgiveness God will restore our purity and cleanliness, because He is also our Saviour.
