What Does It Matter?

Philippians 1:15-18 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

Paul asks a question that I think we should all ask ourselves sometimes, “What does it matter?” What does it matter if I get cut off in traffic, what does it matter if my team loses a game, what does it matter if so and so does such and such? So many things in our lives that we make such a big deal out of don’t really matter, but don’t lose the importance of that question on the things that do matter.

It does matter that you pray with your spouse. It does matter that you are there with your kids. It does matter that you are a part of people’s lives; what you do, who you are does matter.

Don’t ever get fooled by the devil’s lie that whispers into your ear, “You don’t matter.”
