See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed... Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne..." (Revelation 5:5-6).
THINK
The message of Easter is a message of paradoxes. One of the greatest is that Jesus Christ is fully lion and fully lamb. As a lion, he came to conquer death; as a lamb, he came to sacrifice himself. Jesus is a paradox, so we cannot focus on just one aspect of Christ and hope to have an understanding of who he truly is. We have to embrace both the lion and the lamb.
How do you view Jesus—as only a lion? As only a lamb? How can seeing Jesus as both the lion and the lamb improve your relationship with him?
PRAY
Ask God to help you see the full scope of who he is by revealing the majesty of Jesus as the lion and the compassion of Jesus as the lamb.
ACT
Read John 2:13-24 to see Jesus as a lion. Read John 13:1-17 to see Jesus as a lamb.
