Are you trying to encourage someone back to the faith? You are not alone in your efforts. Remember first of all that God is loving your efforts. Winning hearts and minds and souls of people is God’s number-one agenda item after all. He wants to help you. He will help you.
“Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:19,20).
It is God who creates faith in people’s hearts. It is the power of God’s Word that draws fallen-away sinners back home. You aren’t freelancing on your own, of course. You are representing God, and your words carry God’s love and sweet invitation.
God also is active, sometimes in ways we can’t see, to use hardship in people’s lives to tenderize their hearts. Nothing happens by accident. Everything is potentially useful for God’s loving purpose.
