For the Sake of Our Children

Proverbs 22:6

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." NKJV

Parenting is difficult. From the moment our children are born, they demand our time, attention, resources and more. While the world has turned this into a negative, the reality is that it is an honor given to us by God. We get to pour our lives out into another person in order for them to come to understand God and His great love for them. Still, the question remains.

"How do we accomplish this?"

While there are countless parenting books on the market, the greatest tool we can use for our children is God's Word. Inside the pages of Scripture are the Words of our King, and He tells us everything we need to know for loving people, giving to people and sharing His Good News with people. If that is God's call and instruction for our lives in regards to those around us, how much more for our children. Parents, we must lay down our life every day for the sake of our children. Just like any investment, the more we put in from the beginning the greater the return in the end.

Life Lesson: In dedicating our children to the Lord, we commit ourselves to the raising of our children in the ways of the Lord.

Dear God,
Thank You for children. Whether they are mine or others I meet, help me to be a blessing and a Godly example to them. Give me the words to say and the actions to show Your great love and grace. In Jesus' name, Amen.
