No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us—(Romans 8:37, ESV).
I don’t like to lose. In fact, I usually fight to not lose. And I fight hard.
Even my children can attest to that. I don’t know what I was thinking, but I never ‘let’ them win. When they were little, I would at least give them a chance to redeem themselves. But I have to tell you, I was not one of those parents who pretended to lose. (I was wrong and you don’t need to write me about that weakness. I’ve repented to them, paid for the therapy and we’ve moved on.)
We humans do want to win. We’ve been wired to strive to survive, and we like to end up on top.
But in life, we get hit sideways–hard–sometimes. Knocked off our feet, we lose sight of winning, and our only goal is to make it to bed in one piece. I have a lot of those days lately.
Praise God we know that we are more than conquerors and that although we may get a bit battered in the storms of life, nothing can keep us from our prize, from the only thing that matters–our relationship with Christ.
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord—(Romans 8:38).
The game of life can be hard. And we may want to pack it in and call it a day ...but hold on. He has won! We win! (I read the final chapter) And we are joint heirs with Him. Nothing can ever change that. Hallelujah!
