We grow up dreaming and planning our wedding...every detail. The day, if the Lord wills it, comes and is over in 24 hours. The next day all our dreams are over. (Kidding! Kidding!)
There is of course, much more than just the wedding—there’s the marriage. A new beginning where two shall become one (which explains why after the honeymoon no bride can fit back into her wedding dress—we’ve doubled in size!) Our lives are forever changed.
But, sadly, for some, things after the wedding aren’t chocolate and flowers...their lives are more like guns and roses—with a whole lot of prickly thorns. Hearts can be broken with the reality of being less than loved by the one who promised the moon but only brought sticks and stones, leaving them feeling forsaken and desolate. The Bible says the earth trembles when an unloved woman gets married...God sees and your pain grieves him.
Don’t despair, girls; you are pursued by a Holy love which does not fail! He delights in you, and calls the church His bride. This marriage feast will last an eternity and there will be no more tears or pain. Spend time with Him today and ask him to lavish his affection on you; He will walk with you and you will be in a relationship that surpasses anything this world has to offer.
