God-Flavors

“Let me tell you why you are here. You're here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness?..." Matthew 5:13, Message

Flavors and smells. God wants us to add the seasoning, flavor, taste and the aroma of Christ to the world in which we live—to our sphere of influence. Let's talk about it…

Favorite Smells. What aroma do you enjoy? How about fresh ground coffee, popped corn, a garden full of fresh flowers in the summer, a sandalwood candle or a car full of boys after football practice?

Favorite Flavors. What do your taste buds love? Mint chocolate chip ice cream? Creme Brulee? Peanut Butter? Lemon Pepper Steak? Triple shot Cappuccino? Guacamole? Bananas? Sushi?

Isn't it funny how smells and flavors take us places? Caramel corn takes me to a Michigan State football game. A burning patchouli candle takes me to Spencer Gifts in the 70's. The smell of tires reminds me of Sam's Club and being pregnant with our first child. Where do smells and flavors take you?

There is something wonderful about spiritual aroma and flavor! When we are walking closely with the Lord, there is a fresh aroma that comes from our lives and influences others. Have you ever thought about that? What flavor or aroma are you emitting? What flavor is your faith? What do people smell when they're with you? If we will yield to the Lord, He will express the flavor and aroma of Christ through us and take others to wonderful places in God!

Why not be intentional today and season everyone and everything around you with the "joy, mercy, kindness, patience and love" flavor and aroma of Christ!

Say This: "Father, I want my life to add the seasoning, flavor, taste and the aroma of Christ to the world in which I live. Help me to live closely to You and let my life express the flavor and sweet aroma of Christ. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
