However, when you want to bring someone back to the faith, don’t walk away because you’re not a religious professional. When God calls you into his family as his child, he is simultaneously drafting you into his spiritual armed forces as a medic. God trusts you and has equipped you to go after the lost and straying.
Here are two things to do to get ready for that high calling: “In your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have” (1 Peter 3:15). In other words, worship Jesus Christ as your Creator, Redeemer, and Helper and take the time to get into your Bible enough so that you can give a coherent account of what you believe and why.
I love being a pastor, and I dearly hope that people appreciate our work. But may I say that I believe that the most compelling testimonies of faith may come from people who are not being paid to say those things?
