Ask Your Dad

Description

God is your Father, and it makes him happy to take care of you. He loves to give you good things. So go ask your Dad.

“Ask, and you will receive. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened for you. Everyone who asks will receive. The one who searches will find, and for the one who knocks, the door will be opened. If your child asks you for bread, would any of you give him a stone? Or if your child asks for a fish, would you give him a snake? Even though you’re evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children. So how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him?” (Matthew 7:7-11).

Have you ever asked your mom for a snack and she gave you sawdust instead? Or have you asked your dad to play catch and he made you play with a ball made out of nails?

Obviously not. Your parents love you. They aren’t going to give you something that will hurt you. (Before you say anything, vegetables as a snack won’t actually hurt you!)

You trust that they are going to protect you because they love to take care of you.

So why when you ask God for something, do you feel like you have to cross your fingers and hope that maybe, just maybe, he might listen to itty-bitty you?

God is your Father, and it makes him happy to take care of you. He loves it when you ask him to watch over you. He loves to give you good things. So go ask your Dad.
