In the Throne Room

Description

Paula Hendricks shares something from the Bible that will change the way you think about prayer.

“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).

For a while now, I’ve asked God to make me a praying woman. (Don’t ask me why, as I didn’t pray that prayer with a whole lot of desire or faith that He could really answer.) But in our recent staff revival week with David Butts, Chairman of America’s National Prayer Committee, God answered my prayer. He gave me desire—and hope—that He is making me a woman of prayer! Here’s a little taste of what David Butts shared:

Imagine opening the door to God’s throne room and approaching His throne with your prayer:

“Dear God, please heal my swollen finger.”

“God, help me not look like a fool when I give this presentation.”

“Please give me patience with this annoying person you created! Amen.”

The four creatures who surround God’s throne day and night continually saying “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come”--and the twenty-four elders seated on thrones--well, they look at each other incredulously for a few seconds and then whisper, “Is that ALL she’s going to ask?!”

While God cares about every detail of our lives, He has invited you and me into His throne room in order to accomplish His eternal purposes on Planet Earth through prayer!

Not only that . . . we don’t just go in and out of the throne room occasionally—we live there! Don’t ask me to explain it to you, but somehow, while our feet are firmly planted on Earth, we are also seated with Christ on His throne:

“And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6).

Suddenly prayer looks a whole lot different.
