Lighten Up

Description

Don't take life so seriously! It’s healthy to lighten up now and then, so get out there and have some fun!

I discovered something last week.  I’m a creature of habit and stuck in a rut of doing life the same way every day: I get up. Meet with God. Drink my coffee, along with a nibble of a white-powdered donut.  I go to my appointment that’s scheduled for the morning. Write during the day. Run errands. Squeeze in time to see my grandkids (if possible), and sit with Rich at night in front of the fireplace and chat.  Go to bed. Get up. Do the same.

Hey, I live in Oklahoma City! The greatest city in the world (at least I think so.) There are diverse things to do out there.  Like all of us, it takes effort to have fun. It takes planning to do something different, just for the sake of breaking your routine.

Last month a few girlfriends and I went to see the Dancing with the Stars tour in Tulsa.  Was it a blast? YES!  Was it hilarious? YES! Did I get teased by everyone that my binoculars were glued to my head and I would not share? YES!

I know you’re a mom raising kids at home and you don’t have time to do something fun.  I get that!  But yes you do! Plan something. Look what’s coming to town that you’d like to see.  Go to a movie you enjoy.  Have a ME night.  Not kids and ME, that’s no fun, but ME ME ME and a batch of friends. The more the merrier!

It’s good for us to lighten up and just have amusement time with our girlfriends.  It’s good to not take life so seriously.  It’s good to pamper yourself and just be goofy once in a while. I made some stupid remarks that night and I’m still getting teased about my comments (and no, I won’t tell you what came out of my mouth J).   But it’s uplifting to break your mundane routine, let your hair down and just bask in different scenery.

So now I’m sitting here thinking, “What’s next, Pam?”  I don’t know, but I’m when I fly into it head first, I’ll be sure and let you know.
