Strong Shoulders

Petro knows not to spill a drop; every little bit counts when you walk 6 K (3.73 miles) every day for water.

He digs in a sandy, dry riverbed for water to take to school each day. When school is over, he goes to fetch water again to take home to his mother. It’s not clean water, either, but it’s all they have.

Finding and carrying water is a serious worry for Petro’s family. They live with their livestock in northwest Kenya, which is suffering from long-term drought. Sometimes there’s hardly enough water to keep people and animals alive. In recent years they haven’t had enough rain to grow maize or green vegetables.

But there’s hope on the way. Join World Vision’s Global 6K Walk for Water so that Petro and other kids can have clean water and home and school.
