The Bridge to Heaven

Description

God knows you need a way to get from this world to Heaven and that you can’t do it on your own. So, he built a bridge: Jesus.

“Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we don’t know where you’re going. So how can we know the way?’ Jesus answered him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one goes to the Father except through me’” (John 14:5,6).

Over 75 years ago, people in San Francisco wanted a way to cross from one side of the Golden Gate Strait to the other. Unless they took a ferry, they couldn’t do it. That’s why the Golden Gate Bridge was built. Since the bridge opened on May 28, 1937, over two billion vehicles have crossed the 1.7-mile bridge.

God knows you need a way to get from this world to heaven and that you can’t do it on your own. (There isn’t a ferry.) So he built a bridge: Jesus. When Jesus came to this world, he bridged the gap between you and your God. By dying on a cross, he made it possible for you to “drive” to heaven.

But Jesus isn’t simply a bridge to heaven, or one of many bridges. He is the only bridge. You can’t go to heaven on a Buddha bridge or a Muhammad bridge or an I’m-a-good-person bridge. Jesus is the only way. No one gets to see the Father unless he or she goes through Jesus.

Dear Father, thank you for sending Jesus to be my bridge, my way to life with you. Help me tell others about Jesus so they know the right way to take to heaven too. Amen.
