The God Quotient

But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such ‘wisdom’ does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil (James 3:14).

THINK

There’s a major difference between wisdom and knowledge. Wisdom is gained by looking up; knowledge is gained by looking around. And while knowledge in itself is not necessarily bad, the truth is that many people rely on it more than they should.

Earthly knowledge, if that is our ultimate pursuit, will ultimately lead us nowhere. It may help us with a high IQ to get through school. But to make it successfully through life and to experience an eternal existence with Christ, we need to pursue a high GQ, a God Quotient!

Do you focus more energy on the collection of facts and figures? Or do you look up and ask God for His wisdom to help you through life?

PRAY

Ask God to reveal His wisdom for your life. Pray for the discernment to understand when your pursuit of knowledge is overtaking your pursuit of Him.

ACT

Commit to spending time each day looking up to God for His direction before you ever start to look around.
