The Hills

I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.  Psalm 121:1-2

When I lift up my eyes to the hills, there is such peace and strength in them. To think that they have stood there from the very beginning of time and will still be there when you and I are no longer! And yet with all the beauty, majesty and strength the hills display, that is not where our hope lies. No, our hope lies completely in the saving, protecting grace of Jesus Christ.

We need to read on, the Psalmist continues in verse three, and He promises us that Jesus alone will ensure that not even our foot will slip. In fact, He will watch over you and me day and night, for God does not sleep!

He is our Protector. When the heat gets to much, Jesus is our shade.

In fact, our Master has promised us, that as long as we keep our eyes fixed on Him, He will ensure that we finish this race. He shall preserve us from all evil.

Enjoy His creation, the hills, for they are truly magnificent. They give us just a glimpse of this incredibly artistic and creative God we serve.

But never, ever forget that our help comes from Jesus the Christ alone, and not the hills.
